School Results 2017

The results for summer 2017 are identified below.

The results are an improvement on 2016 and are more in line with the expectations of the cohort. The value added score is judged on the performance of the pupils at Key Stage 1, within the old style curriculum to the new expectations of curriculum 2014. As a school we continue to focus on each child and how to develop them as a learner.

The interim assessment  criteria 2017, for writing, expected the pupils to have 100% of the identified strands, future years will not require this.

As a small school each child represents 6% and statistics can fluctuate quite considerably.

The overall combined score is affected by children who attained the expected levels in two of the three areas and not all three areas; reading, writing and maths.

The government identified in- Primary school accountability 2016
‘We have also reformed primary assessment. This includes a new ‘expected standard’ (a higher standard than in 2015), along with new national curriculum tests in English reading and mathematics, with outcomes reported as scaled scores ranging from 80 to 120, rather than levels. ‘ (This also relates to 2017)

These have been reviewed and for next year 2018; there has been considerable changes to the way writing is assessed. In 2017 the children had to meet all the standards identified, but for 2018 it will be a best fit. Some of the expectations from the 2017 interim criteria, for the expected writer, have also been moved to the higher performing category.

This will mean that the results and performance in writing in 2017 cannot be compared with the performance in 2018, as the assessment expectations are different.
